Ok, Jesus you are messing with me again. I have been studying 1 Peter. I am writing 5 talks that I will be presenting at the end of June at a Christian Camp in Southern Ohio. I am lost. I have been reading and I have so much material. How do I keep from overwhelming the students? How do I make sense of this for myself? Shouldn't I have a good grasp of all this Jesus stuff before I am expected to teach? I am lost. I am struggling in the process of wading through all of the great information that is going on in 1 Peter and choosing what is most important to touch on.

The Hope of Christ
Called to Set our Hope on Christ
Called to be Set-apart
Called to Suffer
Called to Submit
Each of those are the topic I need to teach on for the evening...
Oh, Jesus...give me something...kids lives could be impacted...help me. I am lost.

Exiles is what gets me... I have been researching the term and the meaning it would have carried during the time period and it is pretty radical. One commentary i am reading about it refers to Exiles meaning :“sojourners of the dispersion” Sojourner is interesting in its own right as it means pretty much anyone that is different, at least in that time period it did. So when i think of Exiles today, i see homosexuals, the down trodden, poor, oppressed Iraqi's, oppressed Americans, Darfur... none of this makes sense but anyways...keep on keeping on.
John! Thanks for the post. Wow that is interesting! 1Peter is awesome. I still have no idea what i am going to teach about, but i am gettiing there...yes.. exiles is very interesting. The NIV uses "strangers in the world" but the Message uses Exiles as well.
